How Much of Internet Use is Social?

Across the globe, 22 percent of all time spent on the Internet is social. In 2010, users spend one minute in every four and half minutes on a social site, such as a blog or social network. All together, people spend about 110 billion minutes visiting social sites each month. The totals represent an increase of almost 25 percent year-over-year.

More than 13 billion videos are watched each month on YouTube by 135.7 million users — about 96 videos per user.
Brazil leads the world in social Internet interaction — 86 percent of Brazilian Internet users check out social sites, compared to 74 percent in the US.
Most Internet videos are watched during working hours, between noon and 2 p.m.
