Is a Home in Mexico More Likely to Have a Television or Refrigerator?

Homes in Mexico are more likely to have a television than a refrigerator. More than 90 percent of households in Mexico report having a TV, but only a little more than 80 percent report having a refrigerator. To put that in perspective, more than 25 percent of homes in the United States have at least two refrigerators.

There were huge changes in the quality of living in Mexican homes from 1990 to 2010. In 1990, about 20 percent of the houses in Mexico had a bare-earth floor, and one-third lacked sewage access. In 2010, only about 6 percent of homes have bare earth floors and only one in 10 have no sewage access.
Only about 65 percent of homes in Mexico have a shower.
More Mexican households have a mobile phone than have a land line.
