What are Yohimbe Side Effects?

Yohimbe is an herbal supplement that may be used to solve sexual issues, increase weight loss, relieve exhaustion, improve sports performance, and more. Like most supplements, though, there are some side effects that often come along with this drug. In fact, it is generally considered unsafe to take unless closely monitored by a doctor, since there are so many serious side effects. For example, anxiety, a fast heart rate, insomnia, agitation, and high blood pressure may all result after the usual dose of this drug. Sinus problems, nausea, vomiting, bloating, headaches, and excessive urination can also result, as can more serious symptoms like heart issues, difficulty breathing, and paralysis.

Just taking this drug in normal doses may result in some unappealing side effects. For example, blood pressure and heart rate may increase greatly, which is not considered healthy, especially for an extended period of time. Other yohimbe side effects include insomnia, agitation, and anxiety. In general, though this herbal supplement may treat some conditions, it also causes excessive nervous system stimulation, often resulting in discomfort and danger to the body.

Some yohimbe side effects are similar to those of other drugs, but they are still bothersome when experienced for more than a few days. The sinuses may be irritated, resulting in a runny nose and pressure headaches. Nausea and vomiting may also occur, and even though queasiness may result in the inability to eat much, bloating often still shows up as a side effect. Excessive urination and even drooling are also possible yohimbe side effects, often affecting the patient’s regular routine. For this reason, most patients need to consider whether the treatment of their conditions is worth the risk of these side effects, especially since not every doctor agrees that this supplement works well in the first place.

Unfortunately, there are even more serious yohimbe side effects that some patients may experience, especially if they take a dose that is higher than recommended. While the drug may increase blood pressure in patients who take the correct dose, it has the equally dangerous possibility of lowering it when the dosage is increased. Heart problems and difficulty breathing may also show up as dangerous yohimbe side effects, so it should not be surprising that this drug may even lead to death in the most extreme cases. Thus, yohimbe is often not considered safe to take by many doctors, as the side effects can cause more than just discomfort.
