Electro music, also known as electro funk, is a type of electronic music that is related to hip hop. Electronic sounds, as well as the deadpan delivery of any included vocals, define this genre of music. When vocals are used, they are designed to sound mechanical. This effect is frequently achieved through the use of a vocoder or another instrument capable of generating pleasing electronic distortion. This type of music also employs speech synthesis to create robotic-sounding lyrics.
The use of drum machines is usually what defines electro music, though there are some exceptions. Drums are used to provide a rhythmic foundation in this type of music. Syncopated kick drums are frequently used in the rhythmic patterns, which are often similar to breakbeats. Snares and claps are frequently used to emphasize downbeats. Synthesizers, computers, signal processors, and flutes are used to create this type of music. It’s worth noting that traditional orchestras, as well as virtually anything capable of producing sound, can be used to make electro music.
Electro music, which has a fast tempo, is most familiar to many listeners. This music, however, does not always fall into that category. Fast, upbeat, slow, rhythmic, slow, or even spacey electro music is all possible. This type of music is often lumped into one category. It’s worth noting, however, that electro music can be found in a variety of genres.
Planet Rock Afrika Bambaataa and the Soulsonic Force was one of the first records in this genre. It is credited not only as the first electro funk song, but also as one of the most music-changing rap songs, having been released in 1982. In North America and the United Kingdom, it was a flop. It is said, however, to have had a significant influence on dance music and hip hop.
The early 1980s were the heyday of electro music. According to most accounts, this was the height of its musical dominance. It did, however, make a comeback in the late 1990s, thanks to artists such as Mr. Velcro Fastener, DMX Krew, and Dave Clarke, among others. In places like Finland and Sweden, a new type of electro music is gaining traction. Scandinavian Funk or Skweee has been coined to describe this music. However, this genre of music has yet to gain popularity in other countries.
