Which Has More Sugar: Yogurt or Coke®?

Out of yogurt or Coke®, the sugar content in yogurt — particularly varieties with fruit or other flavorings — is often higher than the sugar content in Coke®. A standard 12-ounce (475-milliliter) can of Coca-Cola® contains 39 grams of sugar. The same amount of yogurt — usually two packaged single-serving containers of yogurt — that contains fruit or other flavorings can contain more than 40 grams of sugar. Plain yogurt has significantly less sugar than its fruit-flavored counterparts, at about 14 grams per 12 ounces (475 mL), with most of those calories occurring naturally and not added.

More about sugar content:

A frosted strawberry doughnut can contain about 14 grams of sugar, which is less than the amount of sugar in a serving of many varieties of flavored yogurt.
Even savory food can have a high sugar content. A serving of pasta sauce, for example, might contain 24 grams of sugar.
Grape juice can have more than 50% more sugar than Coke®, at 90 grams per 12 ounces (475 mL).
