The Praxis I® math, also known as the Praxis I Pre-Professional Skills Test® in Mathematics, is an American teacher certification exam offered by the Educational Testing Service. Buying a college or high school algebra textbook, especially one with practice problems and answers in the index, is a good way to prepare. It’s also a good idea to learn the formulas with flash cards.
The third section covers topics in geometry and measurement, including how to use geometric formulas and how to convert between linear and metric systems. You’ll be asked to identify congruence in shapes and solve triangles using the Pythagorean theorem. You’ll also need a basic understanding of coordinate geometry and the ability to locate and solve problems using given coordinates on a plane. While studying a geometry textbook and solving problems is beneficial for the first part of this section, you might find it easier to learn measurement conversions by using flashcards.
The last section of the Praxis I® math exam covers data analysis and probability. You’ll need to be able to deduce information from graphs and comprehend data sets derived from them. Learn how to calculate the mean, median, range, and mode of a data set, as well as how to calculate the probability of an outcome. These topics can be learned using online resources or textbooks.
