A person who wants to work as an aeronautical engineer usually needs a master’s degree in the field. Advanced physics, mathematics, computer science, and chemistry classes help engineering students develop the skills and knowledge they need. The majority of new employees start out as mechanics or junior engineers in aircraft manufacturing facilities. An aeronautical engineer can earn the right to conduct independent research and lead teams of professionals on original projects with experience and continued education.
