An internship is a work-study opportunity for a willing student; some colleges and graduate schools require all students in certain degree programs, such as medicine, to participate in one. Students will be able to immerse themselves in a professional environment in order to gain experience and real-world skills through these internships. These internships may or may not be paid, and they may or may not lead to college credit at the end. They may last for a summer, a year, or a semester.
